Everyone is born with approximately 5 million small tubes called “hair follicles” in our skin in the outer layer. These follicles have reservoirs of stem cells that develop and divide into hair cells.
If the stem cells leave the hair follicle or are damaged due to disease, ageing, or something different, the hair stops growing from the follicle. If this happens to enough follicles, we can notice bald patches forming or our hair thinning.
